Oklahoma City car garages see influx of flood-damaged vehicles

OUT OF LUCK? WELL, CHANTEL, WE SAW TWO CARS HERE AT THIS INTERSECTION IN YUKON ON SATURDAY. UNDERWATER. ONE LOCAL AUTO SHOP TELLS ME FOR THE CARS THAT STALLED OUT BECAUSE THEY DROVE THROUGH HIGH WATERS THIS WEEKEND, THEIR BEST BET IS TO MOVE ON FROM THEIR CAR. USUALLY IT’S NOT A GOOD RESULT BECAUSE WATER WILL GET ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE. FIRST ALERT STORM COMMAND CAPTURED MULTIPLE CARS ON CAMERA THAT HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY BECAUSE THEY DROVE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS THIS WEEKEND. SO WE TALKED TO ONE BODY SHOP ABOUT THE VEHICLES THEY’RE SEEING WITH FLOOD DAMAGE. HE WAS IN A BIG TRUCK, AND SO HE THOUGHT HE’D BE ALL RIGHT. BUT HE HE HEADED ON INTO IT AND NOW HE’S HAVING ISSUES. AND WHILE THE NUMBER OF FLOODED VEHICLES THEY GOT WASN’T HUGE FOR THIS STORM, THEY SAY THE NEWS THEY GIVE THEIR CUSTOMERS WAS FLOODED. CARS IS ALWAYS DEVASTATING. THEY GOT INTO SOME DEEP WATER AND AND THE WATER, YOU KNOW, SUCKED UP ONTO THE INTO THE INTAKE OF THE ENGINE. WELL, THAT’S GOING TO VAPOR LOCK IT. THAT’S GOING TO JUST SEIZE UP A MOTOR. IT’S GOING TO DO DAMAGE. YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR AT THAT POINT. YOU’LL OFTEN HEAR THE SLOGAN, TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN. WHEN IT COMES TO FLOODS AND DRIVING. BUT RICHARD THOMASON SAYS THAT’S GOOD ADVICE FOR YOUR VEHICLE, TOO. IT’S A SCARY THING. YOU’RE JUST WAY BETTER OFF TURNING AROUND AND GO THE OTHER DIRECTION. MIKEY’S AUTOMOTIVE ACTUALLY TELLS ME THEY HAVEN’T HAD A LOT OF CARS WITH FLOOD DAMAGE COME IN THIS YEAR, BUT IN OKLAHOMA, THE NUMBER
